To do this you will need to use a “stick” form of deodorant. It’s best, of course, to choose one that is not knowingly harmful to your health. Most cheaper body deodorants contain aluminum salts, or Propylene Glycol, and other toxic chemicals which are easily absorbed into the skin.  Remarkably enough, all cosmetic deodorants and antiperspirants marketed in the U.S. (including unhealthy ones!), must be approved by the FDA for initially “safe” skin application.

For people who sweat a lot, antiperspirants help alleviate sweating by plugging the sweat glands, but they are not a healthy choice. Many deodorant formulas can be harmful to the health of some people. When used over time some formula contents have been linked to Alzheimers, edemas, skin rashes, memory loss, brain fog, headache, dizziness, and weakness among other suspected bodily maladies.

It is believed one of the reasons that antiperspirants in particular stop working effectively after using a particular brand formula for a while is that the body will try to overcome the unhealthy blocked pore situation by neutralizing the blocking power of  the chemicals. Changing to a different sweat reducing formula can fool the body's defense system for a while, but only long enough for it to again recognize and neutralize the new harmful chemical formula.

Discontinuing antiperspirant use and switching to a deodorant can, over time, sometimes reduce excess sweating as the body returns to normal sweating functions. Underarm sweat pads are also available, of course, to help with the problem. It can take one to four weeks to detoxify and release the aluminum or other toxic chemicals in the armpits. Or to detoxify much sooner, apply a clay detoxifying mask in the armpit area using a ratio of clay and water 1:1, or another effective absorbent skin cleansing mask.

Shaving or cutting underarm hair very short is usually a good plan. In most cases, this also helps deodorants work better and last longer.

To avoid the risk of being a hazard to your health that you may regret later on, it is suggested that the deodorant you choose is among the few (although not easy to find) formulas of deodorant that purposely avoid toxins and sweat blockers in the list of their ingredients. Two outstanding brands which are believed to be excellent choices with safer natural ingredients are Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant, and Megababe Daily, both of which are available in a variety of different scents.

Incidentally, many of the most pleasing scents are derived from expensive essential oils. Depending upon the particular scent formula, our bodies can react positively or negatively in different ways relative to each deodorant scent formula. It may take some trial and error with different brands and scents before you find the deodorants that perform best for your body.

Regardless of which underarm stick formula you decide to use, as mentioned, you can extend the life of the deodorant (or antiperspirant) stick to two or even as much as ten times longer and enjoy having softer more comfortable skin too. So why not give this a try? Just follow the steps outlined as follows:

     First buy a container of Aloe Vera gel. This is a popular item often used for various cosmetic and first aid purposes due to its mild plant healing and cleansing properties. Aloe Vera gel is often available with a press lever cap which makes it easy to dispense. For example, a popular brand sold at CVS pharmacies is labeled “Aftersun Aloe Vera.” It is sold in a 20 ounce plastic dispensing bottle. Buy a clear transparent Aloe Vera gel that is unscented (Aftersun is one which is also available in a scented green gel). But whichever brand or size you choose, get an unscented clear gel Aloe Vera.

     Proceed by following this special stick deodorant application process: Run a little warm tap water onto the three largest fingers of one hand. Next, using your other hand, dispense a squirt of Aloa Vera about the size of a dime onto your wet fingers and rub it generously around in one armpit without letting it get dry. Then, wash and wipe dry the three fingers. Next uncap your stick deodorant and wet the top part of your deodorant stick by moving it very quickly through a stream if slow running tap water.

Now gently jab or dash the stick several times in three or four places inside your armpit to allow some of the deodorant to rub off into the wet Aloe Vera coating (the amount that is released from the stick can vary depending upon the consistency, softness, or firmness of the deodorant stick formula). Then using the same three fingers rub it around a little to mix in with the Aloe Vera, while your underarm area still remains a little wet. Then wash and wipe dry your three fingers again. Finally, follow this same procedure again using your other hand and other armpit.

Afterwards, your underarm areas should then still be a little wet but will soon dry near to normal.

You will probably be using anywhere from half to as much to a tenth as much of the amount of deodorant you normally would be applying when you use this method. Experimenting for a few days will tell you more closely how much Aloe Vera and how much deodorant you need to “dab on” for effective underarm protection. Your deodorant will actually be performing better! Buy expensive deodorants if you want to because they will last much longer and you will be saving money on your favorite deodorants forever after!
